Hundreds Attend Care Congress at Boardman Church

Every eight seconds an American turns 65 and starts relying on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

The Care Congress lets seniors hear from elected officials about these programs and their future. Thursday night, 400 people packed the pews of Westminster Presbyterian in Boardman to listen and express their concerns about how the programs affect their lives.

The meetings are being held all across the nation to give seniors more information before heading to vote in November.

"We're never going to tell people who to vote for, or how to vote.? But when you're looking to vote you can look at representatives through the lenses of how your values are related to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid," said Tammy Thomas Miles, Senior Organizer MVOC.

Over the next 5 years, 665,000 Ohioans will become eligible for retirement services and support.
