spark musicspark 2012 SCHEDULE

musicSPARK is excited to announce its 2012 schedule!? We have over 70 local, emerging acts placed in 13 downtown Raleigh venues over 4 days.? Once again this year, it?s All Local, All Free!? Thursday includes our jazz kickOFF at Flanders, a SPARKplug during the Opening Ceremonies at the Amphitheatre, and the afterPARTY at Spy Bar.? Friday brings Young Guns on Main Stage early, followed by shows at Isaac Hunter?s Tavern, Spy Bar, and Brewmasters, and capped off with our Main Event at Kings Barcade.? For the first time, musicSPARK brings a local ?big name? to the stage: The Veldt!? Local upstarts Spaceship Days will open. ?Three outdoor stages provide music all afternoon Saturday and Sunday on the SPARKcon footprint.? Saturday night shows at Brewmasters and Humble Pie round out our schedule for this year.

Young Guns is a new concept for musicSPARK this year, featuring musical acts comprised of members under the age of 21.? In its first season, this series has attracted elementary school bands, a middle school singer/songwriter, 2112 Rock School bands, and other young acts in the area.? Originally planned to play on the musicSPARK Stage Sunday afternoon, the Young Guns have expanded to Main Stage Friday evening and into some venues.

musicSPARK is also excited to be collaborating with so many other SPARKs during SPARKcon 2012.? theatreSPARK will be performing pop-up scenes at Kings Barcade during our Main Event.? musicSPARK talent is performing as part of SPARK afterDARK, a poetrySPARK evening event, ideaSPARK?s Pecha Kucha Night, and in the Kid Area.? poetrySPARK is performing during band transitions on the musicSPARK Stage. ?musicSPARK acts have been solicited for the fashionSPARK show at the Opening Ceremonies and submitted music videos to filmSPARK.? One of our new outdoor stages is in the wheelSPARK area.

Our 2012 schedule is below.? More information is available at www.SPARKcon.com/musicSPARK.

VAE // SPARKcon

Visual Art Exchange produces SPARKcon as part of its mission to support and provide opportunities for artists and connect the community to the arts. This festival gives an unusual opportunity for the community to be directly involved with a public art project in downtown Raleigh. SPARKcon is unique because it is an event fully created by artists, who are encouraged to use their unique creative talents to create their own programs. SPARKcon was founded in 2006 by Aly and Beth Khalifa.
